Coleman Lighting
Anyone who has ever gone camping has probably used a Coleman "The Outdoor Company" products. While sleeping in a Coleman tent I am sure you have probably reached for the Coleman lantern or Coleman flashlight to take that terrifying walk in the woods or to the outhouse. Even if you are not a camper, who has not used a Coleman cooler for that long car trip, or for refreshments at the golf course, a trip to the beach, or going on a picnic1 I have often dropped a few soft drinks or iced tea and a sandwich in a Coleman cooler when I went checking out the yard sales on a Saturday morning.
When I first started camping many years ago the only lighting product from Coleman was their Coleman fuel lantern.1 You would fuel the tank with Coleman fuel or white gas, making sure there were no drips around as the gas is quite volatile.1 Then you would1 untwist the stem and give it 30 or 40 pumps, then twist it into the closed position.1 Then you would adjust the little wire lever into the prime position (was it up or down) and then turn the other knob to start the gasoline vapors going into the mantle.1 If you had a long match you lit the gas and it would sputter with a darkened flame for about a minute, until success!1 A bright flame that rivaled any electric light bulb out in the middle of nowhere. The mantles would break every few weeks but were easily replaceable.
Thankfully Coleman has improved and expanded their product line in the lighting areas.1 Their Coleman battery light that uses a fluorescent tube for efficiency is available and has no fumes.1 Handy Coleman flashlights and tent lights now round out their product line.1 They even have windup models that have rechargeable batteries in them for emergencies.1 I have decided to keep one the windup models now as I tried one out at a camping show last summer and although it takes a lot of winding to fully charge up, the alternative might be no lighting at all.
1I could go on for several pages on how Coleman has been some of the lifetime products I use.1 I have one of their Coleman sleeping bags,a Coleman tent,1 a Coleman battery lantern, a Coleman one burner propane stove, and an older Coleman white gas three burner stove.1 I have got good use out all of these products, and when I shop for replacements I will probably look for more of the same products as my experience with this company has been positive.1 Check out their website http://www.coleman.com/ and pick out your country.1 Browse the products and you will find lots of Coleman brand outdoor products to fill in those camping and emergency supply needs.
